Alton - Hamburg - MINDEN

Day 2

Actually, this is Day 0, the day before the majority of Minden Rose fly out to Germany: the kit is all packed into the car ready for transportation to Minden by road.

The journey to Calais was easy enough. On the continent the weather was cool, grey and they drizzly: more like winter than early summer!

After a steady run through France, Belgium, Holland and Germany we reached Minden and met the others (who had flown to Hamburg) and our hosts from Zugvogel who had driven down from Hamburg by coach.

We were met by a man from "Minden Marketing" and guided to the market square where we gave a short performance (and got an invitation to return in 2009 when Minden will be commemorating 250 years since the Battle of Minden.

After the performance some found a place to rest briefly...

...then we set out back to the coach...

...taking in some of the sights as we went.

Before entering the Prussian Museum we posed for a group photo.

After the museum we had a quick look around Minden, grabbed a bite to eat, then headed by road to Bodenwerder, a small town on the Weser about an hour from Minden, where some stayed in a small hotel and the rest in the youth hostel on the hillside. We had a "day room" to use, and we gathered on the balcony to drink, chat...

...and admire the view over the town.
