May Day 2006

May Day is the official start of the season, even though we danced twice last weekend. We weren't out at dawn, like some, so avoided the rain. Rather we enjoyed a clear evening with the several other sides helping to celebrate Wickham Morris's 25th May Day.

As usual, the evening started with the children dancing. They were followed by the Breton group Kelt Ha Breizh

We shared our spot with Four Marks Morris

and Fleet Morris (looking dangerous with flying sticks)

Our neighbours were Samhain Morris, also looking dangerous with sticks.

Wickham Morris (our hosts) were out in force

as were their band

Our band wasn't bad either

But when you dance Dommet's Delight in front of Roy and Marguerite, you're supposed to get it right.

Still the Street Dance finished with a flourish.
