Wight Bells Day of Dance, 15 September 2002

Today's outing is across the water to the Isle of Wight to join Wight Bells for their first Day of Dance. We al arrive in good time for the hovercraft, on a lovely clear morning.

Our first dance spot is on Ryde sea front, by the pier, with the other local side, the Men of Wight.

And the first Morris side I've seen accompanied by highland bagpipes, Bourne River.

We did our bit too...

Though the breeze was a bit strong for letting go of the hankies!

Next, a group photo by the sea wall.

After which we processed along the sea front to the Canoe Lake.

Quayside Cloggies from Poole.

Waiting for our coach at the far end, we decided to dance - so the coach immediately turned up!

Next stop, Shanklin sea front. Here Kintbury May Maids are in action

and our hosts, Wight Bells.

There's a chance for a paddle - yes, Tigers like water (but my tail got soaked!)

Final stop, Arreton Barns. Here everyone did a turn - Wickham did the Morris Dance from Dad's Army (hence the helmets).

As we left, the squires compared notes.

And so, back to Ryde and an ice cream before heading home after a very enjoyable day.
