For the Spring Bank Holiday we went to Chippenham for their 30th annual Folk Festival. There was lots to see and hear, though our pictures concentrate (as we did) on our own performance, and a few of the teams who we shared dance spots with.
Our first spot on Saturday was at the bottom of the High Street - where we danced (inter alia) the new dance Chequers...
We were followed by Bristol Morris Men
After lunch we joined in the procession (no pictures - too busy dancing!). The cake (below) was wheeled in the procession, before being launched in the river, where it remained for the duration.
Mid afternoon we performed in the arena, before a full house (well, Camden Clog were on before us)
We started with the Wain
followed by Mrs Hepple
finishing with the Rose.
Sunday lunchtime we danced outside the Rose and Crown with OBJ. Here Wishford got an airing
then OBJ took a turn
and the "mothers and daughters" danced Johnny Sharpe out for the first time
As usual, we finished with the Rose
Back at the bottom of the High Street, we got the children involved in Pat-a-cake Polka
though some volunteers were less willing
and danced Wishford again.
